Road users face pothole 'pandemic'
Date:
The UK’s poor roads contributed to an 11% increase in breakdowns at the end of 2017, according to the RAC*. Road surfaces have deteriorated even further as a result of 2018’s freezing temperatures coupled with the effects of the Beast from the East.
According to the BBC, one in six road surfaces will need repairing over the next five years.
The pothole ‘pandemic’ isn’t only affecting motorists – cyclists and pedestrians are also at risk. A report by the BBC in March found that 670 cyclists have been compensated with a total of £6.7 million since 2013 due to injuries caused by potholes**.
